Which Online Dating Agency Should You Choose?

Filed under: Miscellany @ 12:14 pm

There are many online dating agencies, some better than others. There are several questions that you may want to ask when looking for an online dating agency. Some that come to mind are as follows:

1. Should you use a paid dating agency or a free agency? Contrary to what you may think, you are not necessarily more likely to be successful with a paid dating agency than a free one. A paid dating agency will have a greater budget for advertising, and this is where your money tends to go. Most paid dating agencies allow you to set up a profile for free, and you can sometimes find that the people you contact can’t reply because they haven’t purchased a subscription; this can waste a lot of your time. You would not find this problem with a free agency; nor would you get the problem with an agency that allows non-subscribers to reply to your message. However, a free service is more likely to contain lower quality profiles, possibly including swearing and similar, because with free advertising-sponsored sites, there is little money to pay for people to manually check profiles.

2. How good is their matching technology? Matching technology varies from matching physical characteristics such as height and eye colour, to in-depth psychological question reviews and surveys to fill in, such as seen on OkCupid. In general, physical characteristics are usually unimportant when it comes to finding someone with whom you would wish to have a relationship. Age, personality, whether they have children, their religion and similar are more important, and where dating agencies provide options to match based on these items, you are more likely to be successful, and you will cut down on your searching time.

3. Should you go for a general dating agency, or a dating agency aimed at a particular subsection of the population? There are plenty of dating agencies and introduction agencies that cater for people that hold a certain religion, people who are looking for a certain kind of relationship or just friendship, and other subsections. If the person who you are looking for must have a certain characteristic, then it may be worth looking at a dating agency aimed at people who have that characteristic, otherwise it’s best to stick with the general ones.

4. How attractive is the dating website? If the website of an online dating agency is attractive, you will be more likely to visit it regularly. You are no different from anybody else in this respect. Also, some dating websites email you when significant events happen, like a new person signing up in your area, or somebody sending you a message. If they do this, then you are more likely to visit the site when such an event happens, and the site will likely be more successful for you.

5. What is the general opinion of that dating site? What do people think of it? Don’t be fooled by dating agencies that tell you that they arrange one marriage a week; they may well do so, but that may be quite easy for them if they have millions of profiles on their system. Look for the opinions of expert reviewers, and the opinions of ordinary men or women who have used the dating agency.

You’ve Been Dumped Part 2 (Continued)

Filed under: Miscellany @ 12:59 pm

Face reality 99.9% of the times you likely will not like the answers to these simple questions and your conversations will quickly deteriorate, giving your ex justification for dumping you.

Do you really want to hear, “I’ve got a date” or “Anything, but, something with you.”

Then one day, while he was in an incredibly positive mood, he decided to pay a visit and share some of the events of his incredible day. He had stopped by unannounced on dozens of occasions before and was always welcomed with open arms. He thought: What could be different now?

They still supposedly cared for each other, surely it would be no different now.

He buzzed the apartment. “ZZZZZZZZ” - he was let in. He headed up to his exes place, as always the door was unlocked and as always he let himself in. What happened next illustrates a magnitude of trauma that few would be able to ever recover from. A discovery so horrific that most would be left quivering and shaking on the floor, broken and defeated waiting for the pending ‘living autopsy’ of a shattered life.

I’ll no longer delay the suspense, what he discovered was his ex was “entertaining”, traumatic enough by itself, but get this, remember back in 2003 when his last ex was “entertaining”, it was the same guy. What are the odds, my heart sunk when I heard this story. It was pure coincidence, his two ex’s don’t know each other.

Now my poor friend once again was faced with rejection. He questioned everything about his life and his whole relationship. He fought back the tears and was faced with wondering:

*What’s wrong with me?

*And, every time his ex doesn’t pick up the phone is she: “entertaining?”

The point is, and I can’t stress it enough: if you actually want to recover from lost love: Get away and heal yourself.

Pull yourself from the dating game for awhile and quit being so needy. Trust me, doing so is a lot better than the images that will be playing in your head every time you don’t get the answer or attention that you desire from your ex.

Being dumped sucks. Being friends with the dumper sucks even more.

As for my poor friend, in another year or two, when he let’s down his guard again and allows love in the door, I just hope for his sake if it ends, he’ll be the one doing the: “entertaining.”

Note: It is very important to understand that neither of the exes did anything wrong. The relationship was over and regardless of whether they did horrible things during the relationship, once they gave out the pink slip all obligations ended.

What’s Your Courage Quotient?

Filed under: Miscellany @ 2:29 am

What’s your Courage Quotient?

In the mid-1990’s, Daniel Goleman introduced the term “emotional intelligence” to the business world contending that our ability to manage our emotions and relationships with others was twice as important as our intelligence quotient (IQ) and experience in predicting our success as leaders. Ten years later, we see frequent reference to “EI”, and have many different assessments that will help us measure our own EQ - emotional quotient. Most of you reading this would agree that having a high EQ is at least important, if not essential for those in positions of leadershipformal and informal.

I agree and will further contend that equally important is having a high Courage Quotient, (CQ).

In my home country, the USA, we entered the 21st century full of optimism, somewhat carefree and “fearless” particular since we had successfully navigated the Y2K transition. And then that fateful date, September 11, 2001, “9-11″ changed my country, yours and our world forever. In literally a matter of minutes, we went from a state of “fearlessness” to one of total fear. And when faced with fear, we gather courage.

On that fateful day and for many to come, we saw and heard demonstrations of courage at its extreme. We saw how the heart takes over, and we saw a spirit come alive. We learned why the derivative of courage is “corage” from medieval Old French, meaning heart and spirit as we saw our firefighting professionals run into the burning buildings, witnessed people leaping for their lives from the 65th floor, and hearing of others with the courage to answer the phone wondering if they will hear the inevitable….. It took courage to go on to the next day, and the next….

Courage is about heart and spirit. And it is about tapping into that heart and spirit every day of our lives. I am probably considered one of the lucky ones, for I have no personal story to tell about loosing a friend or family member, or even fearing the lost of one from the events of that day, and all that have transpired as a result. Yet it is preciously those events that threw me into fast forward on my journey of courage, and put courage forever more on my radar screen.

Fast Company dedicated their September 2004 issue to Courage, with the following lead in “Is courage obsolete? Heroism is awfully hard to find in the era of expedience, excuses, and evasion.” I found it ironic that this leading edge magazine posed this question three years following 9-11…..what happened during those three years that led them to ask that question?

The good news is that the editors were able to find “walking among us” the truly courageous. Furthermore, they found that the wise words of Aristotle in approximately 350 BC were true, “Courage is the first of human virtues because it makes all the other virtues possible.”

The unfortunate news is that during that time we have several examples of leaders who chose not to face their fears— those inner fears of failure; of being wrong; of self doubt; of letting go; of facing the mirror; of saying “the emperor has no clothes on”. Perhaps the truest sign of courage is when we are able to live our life true to our values, to a purpose, and owning the consequences that result. Holding ourselves 100% accountable for our choices is one of the basic behaviors of courage.

Living a life with courage requires us to build our courage muscle, and just like building our other muscles, it takes commitment, exercise and practice. It takes truly knowing ourselves and our comfort zone, and consciously choosing everyday to step outside of itat least once. It takes connecting our heart and our mind, and trusting our gut. It takes identifying all of our fears and facing them, head on, often just asking what’s the worse that can happen? It takes goals, and humility to say, “I’m wrong” or “it didn’t work.” It takes action.

Christopher Reeve showed us how to live a life with courage, giving credence to the philosopher Seneca, “sometimes even to live is an act of courage.” In an essay he was writing at the time of his death, he shares his profound story of living a fearless life, and reminds us, when we do, we make the world a better place for those who come behind us—perhaps that is the ultimate reason for having a high CQ. Get the Dream Analysis You’re Looking For

Filed under: Miscellany @ 3:40 pm

On our Dream Prophesy Blog, we receive a lot of requests for
dream analysis. Fortunately, as a dreamologist, analyzing dreams
is somehting I love to do, so I never tire from the dreams that
are submitted. Unravelling the symbolisms and mysteries behind
dreams is, for me, what working a challenging crossword puzzle
would be for a wordsmith, or a demanding golf course for a
golfer.

One of the most important parts of dream analysis, however,
doesn’t lie in my hands. It lies in those of the dreamer.

In order to yield an accurate interpretation, the dreamologist
requires several very important pieces of information.

1. First of all, the dreamer should include the people in the
dream with them: their relationship to the dreamer, if any, and
their names, if known.

2. The dreamer needs to make it clear whether they are a male or
female. This is actually a very important piece of information
and can, at times, alter an analysis a great deal.

3. The dreamer should list the colors that he/she remembers from
the dream. Colors are profoundly important in dream analysis.

4. Every object that the dreamer can recall should be named. No
matter how small or unimportant they seem, they are a piece of
the puzzle - and puzzles can’t be properly constructed with
missing pieces.

5. Of course, the dream should be described to the best of the
dreamer’s ability….what happened, when it happened, how it
happended and where it happened.

6. Oddly enough, the most important part of the mystery isn’t
any of the above 5. It’s this: The dreamer should tell how the
dream made them feel. As soon as they awoke, what were their
emotions? They should always tell the dreamologist how they felt
after the dream. I just can’t tell you how important this is!

Amazingly, the dreamers who have submitted their dreams to us
have done an incredible job of listing all of these very details.
